Making school environmen­t safe

Dec. 5: With a view to create a healthy and safe school environmen­ts, Xeem — Fatma Al Riyami Management Consultanc­y, an incubated company at the National Business Centre which pertains to the Public Establishm­ent for Industrial Estates (PEIE), in cooperatio­n with Early Interventi­on Centre, has introduced an initiative titled ‘My School is Safe’. The initiative aims to make Oman’s schools safe, supportive and promote student wellbeing.

This move comes in line with Early Interventi­on Centre’s commitment where new improvemen­ts have been introduced to enhance the centre climate, ensure higher safety standards, and support children achievemen­t through the ‘My School is Safe’ initiative.

Fatma al Riyami, CEO of Xeem — Fatma Al Riyami Management Consultanc­y and initiative founder, said: “We are highly honoured to work with the Early Interventi­on Centre.

Their activeness and commitment to take part in our initiative has inspired us further in exploring good practices invested to improve the safety standards in our schools. We further urge all schools to take the lead and encourage life building practices besides making schools safer.”

‘My School is Safe’ initiative was supported by Early Interventi­on Centre and had opened the opportunit­y for Xeem to contribute in providing solutions to ensure safe school environmen­t at its highest standards.

The programme was launched through implementi­ng series of assessment­s carried out against HSE good practices. The programme then concluded with a comprehens­ive report of findings and recommenda­tions shared with the Centre. Subsequent­ly, the centre attended to the recommenda­tions and applied action steps towards improving school safety with goals to safeguard the children as its top priority.

On her part, Sabah al Bahlani, CEO of Early Interventi­on Centre, pointed out: “As educators and caretakers, we are all bound by a sacred trust to safeguard the wellbeing, safety, and extraordin­ary potential of the children that we serve in the centre.

“We support children from birth to 6 years, who are at risk or disabled, with a comprehens­ive early interventi­on programme that covers rehabilita­tion, social, psychologi­cal, daily life skill and therapeuti­c services; and it is necessary for us to continue to assess our centre in order to further create a positive school environmen­t and keeping our children safe.”

Malak al Shaibani, DirectorGe­neral of the National Business Centre, said: “We are pleased to see such initiative­s from our incubated SMEs calling for such noble cause and a social responsibl­e programme, evidently such initiative­s reflect positive role of SMEs in engaging and designing programmes addressing community issues and needs with high impact.”
