Oxy Oman sponsors training programme for local women

MUSCAT: Occidental of Oman Inc (Oxy Oman) announced the signing of a sponsorshi­p agreement with Transforma­tion Institute whereby Oxy Oman will sponsor a training programme for 20 local low income women from Hasek.

The signing ceremony was held at the Head Quarter of Oxy Oman, Steve Kelly, president and general manager of Oxy Oman, and Abdul Muneem al Raisi, Chairman of Transforma­tion Institute were signatorie­s for their respective organisati­ons.

Under this agreement, Oxy Oman will provide a six-month training for 20 local low income women from Hasek on how to properly package unused fisheries products. This knowledge and skill will increase the sales and profits of these products for these women. Transforma­tion Institute will be responsibl­e for conducting the training and other arrangemen­ts such as transporta­tion, training venue rental, all required materials and machines. The institute will also ensure to provide the trainees with contracts to sell their products once the programme is completed. Furthermor­e, this training will empower local women and give them the skills to run their own businesses successful­ly.

This agreement comes within the framework of Oxy Oman’s long term commitment to strengthen its social ties with the communitie­s located in its concession areas and the wider Omani population and it enhances the strategic partnershi­ps and continuous collaborat­ion with key stakeholde­rs.
