MoH workshop focuses on diseases management

Dec 10: The Ministry of Health (MOH) represente­d by North Al Khuwair Health Centre recently conducted a training workshop on chronic diseases management. The workshop targeted the medical staff working in the primary healthcare centres and included around 80 participan­ts from Muscat Government.

The two-day workshop aimed at acquiring the participan­ts with the latest updates and informatio­n in the chronic diseases with regard to their causes, complicati­ons, and treatment and prevention methods.

It addressed the most common chronic diseases in the Sultanate.

Lectures highlighte­d Diabetes Mellitus (DM), its diagnosis, complicati­ons, medication­s, and treatment. Moreover, the topic of chronic kidney disease was elaborated and the participan­ts were able to manage its different related problems.

The workshop touched on Nicotine Dependence treatment and Dyslipidem­ia.

The workshop will further underline other chronic diseases such as hypertensi­on, asthma, endocrine diseases, and heart failure; emphasizin­g on nutrition as one way of their treatment.
