Oman Cricket hosts ICC coaching course
MUSCAT: Oman Cricket successfully hosted the 2016 ICC Asia Development Level 2 coaching course, held at the Al Falaj hotel from December 10 to 14. The course was conducted by experienced ICC regional development officers, Aminul Islam, Iqbal Sikander and Venkatapathi Raju. Participants from Oman, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain and UAE attended this course.
Chairman of Oman Cricket and General Secretary, Kanak Khimji and Madursinh Jesrani were present during the second day of the course to welcome and address the participants and ICC officials. Khimji stated the importance of coaches in the game and highlighted the never ending learning attitude that is a must for a good coach.
All participants and officials were very vocal about the hospitality and were greatly impressed the grounds and facilities developed by Oman Cricket thus far. Abbas Al Nadwi, the Saudi Arabia representative, was especially appreciative of the structured hands on learning approach of the educators and found them to be very professional. Fariba Heidari and Nasime Rahshetai, the two female representatives from Iran were also in full praise for the instructors and hoped for more participants in coming years.
Aminul Islam (ICC Development Manager — Asia) was impressed with the level of development and growth of the infrastructure and appreciated the achievements of the Oman national team. He gave credit to the board, especially chairman Kanak Khimji for the years of solid leadership and support that have been instrumental to the achievements so far.
Of the 11 participants, 5 participants from Oman attended the course, which included one Omani coach, Abdul Ghani Rahim Al Balushi from Al Hail Cricket Academy.
