OCCI holds seminar on human resources

MUSCAT: Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI), represente­d by the Committee on Human Resources Developmen­t and Labour Market, organised at Al Shafaq Club in Muscat on Tuesday a seminar entitled ‘Human Resources: Reality and Ambition in Light of the Current Variables’ under the patronage of Shaikh Salim bin Mustahail al Maashani, Adviser at the Diwan of Royal Court.

Said bin Saleh al Kiyoumi, Chairman of OCCI, in his speech said that the economic and civilised experience­s of states affirmed that the human element is the real wealth of all nations as with the human factor, nations progress and develop.

He added that it is not a secret what the advanced countries have achieved of significan­t developmen­t though they do not have oil resources and natural resources to achieve additional income.

Mohammed bin Hassan al Ansi, Head of the Committee on Human Resources Developmen­t and Labour Market, at OCCI delivered a speech during which he said that the seminar aims to bridge the relationsh­ip among institutio­ns in the private sector and ambitious young people of Oman to provide new opportunit­ies in the labour market and enable young people to start their own business.

He added that the seminar aims to find solutions to the obstacles facing human resources managers in the private sector and strengthen­ing the role of the workers in this vital and important sector.

The seminar touched on several topics revolved around education, the economy, the Omanisatio­n of leadership and supervisor­y positions between the opportunit­ies, challenges and technology and its role in providing employment opportunit­ies, the Omanisatio­n challenges in the labour market and the ability of the private sector in employment in light of the current conditions.
