Rustaq CAS organises ‘Omani Civilisati­on in East Africa’ forum

Dec. 20: A forum titled ‘Omani Civilisati­on in East Africa’ was organised by Sultan Qaboos Higher Centre for Culture and Science in associatio­n with Rustaq College of Applied Sciences at Rustaq College.

The forum was presided over by Shaikh Hilal bin Said al Hajri, Governor of South Al Batinah.

It was attended by walis, members of the State Council, managers of government and military institutio­ns, besides the Dean of Rustaq College, Dr Humood al Wardi.

The forum began with a speech by Dr Said bin Musallam al Rashdi. He highlighte­d the Omani relations in East Africa and the necessity of holding such forums.

In his speech, Humood al Wardi said the forum is a “harvest of cooperatio­n” between Rustaq College and Sultan Qaboos Higher Centre for Culture and Science.

He said the desired the forum outcomes will and achieve thanked the Sultan Qaboos Higher Centre for Culture and Science and participan­ts.

Research papers were presented at the forum. A paper titled ‘Omani Political Presence in East Africa’ delivered by Dr Mohammed Al Shueili. Another paper titled ‘Omani African Literature’ was presented by Dr Issa al Sulaimani. ‘Omani Press in the Horn of Africa’ was presented by Dr Mohammed al Mahrooqi and ‘ Omani Manuscript­s in East Africa’ by Dr Sultan al Shaibani.

The session was moderated by noted media presenter Mohammed al Marjibi.
