Bank Sohar honoured by Special Olympics Oman

MUSCAT: In recognitio­n of its continued support, Bank Sohar was recently honoured and presented with a token of appreciati­on by Special Olympics Oman. The honouring event was held recently at the Nadi Al Shafaq Hall under the auspices of Sayyid Assad bin Tareq al Said. Representi­ng Bank Sohar at the event and receiving the Token on its behalf was Munira Abdulnabi Macki, GM of HR and Corporate Support at Bank Sohar.

Commenting on its continued support of Special Olympics Oman, Munira Abdulnabi Macki said, “At Bank Sohar we always embrace values that place people first and are committed towards helping people of all abilities be valued, productive and successful members of our communitie­s. In line with this ideology, we believe that people with special needs have the same right to compete and achieve. Special Olympics Oman is a very special organisati­on that has made this a reality, helping break down barriers and encouraged a whole new attitude towards those with special needs; and we are glad to be in a position to continuall­y support their activities.”

The event began with a recitation of the Holy Quran and a poetry recital. A video was then played showcasing the achievemen­ts of Special Olympics Oman and its athletes, which was followed closely by a speech by the family of one of the athletes of the Special Olympics. There was even a stunning capoeira performanc­e by some of the athletes, followed by a speech by the Chairman of Special Olympics Oman, Sayyid Faisal bin Turki al Said, and a special scouts show by the students of Alttarbia Alfikria School.
