S Sharqiyah Council members take oath
MUSCAT: The Royal Oman Police (ROP) will celebrate today its Annual Day, which falls on January 5th each year during a ceremony to be held under the patronage of Sayyid Munthir bin Majid al Said, Head of Liaison and Coordination at the Royal Office. The ceremony will include the graduation of officer candidates at the parade field at the Sultan Qaboos Academy for Police Sciences (SQAPS) in the Wilayat of Nizwa.
Col Sulaiman bin Mohammed al Alawi, Assistant Commander of SQAPS for Academic Affairs, said that four batches of officer candidates will be graduated after having successfully completed requirements of the course of study. He added that the batches include the 39th batch of officer candidates with diploma in law and police science system. They also include the 40th batch of specialised officer candidates and the third batch of officer candidates with limited service system.
He noted that SQAPS, which was opened on 5th January 1980 under the royal auspices of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos, is one of the institutions in charge of implementing education and training policy for the ROP.
The Academy has witnessed many developments including the Royal Decree No 62/2000 changing the name of the Academy to SQAPS and upgrading the level of study to grant the bachelor degree in law and science. SUR: Members of the 2nd Term Municipal Council in the Governorate of South Al Sharqiyah on Wednesday took oath before Sheikh Abdullah bin Mustahail Shamas, Governor of South Al Sharqiyah, Head of the Council.
Salim bin Nasser al Khadhouri was elected as a Deputy Head of the 2nd Term Municipal Council in the Governorate of South Al Sharqiyah, besides forming the Council’s three committees, namely Legal Committee, Public Affairs Committee, Health, Social and Environment Affairs Committee.
