CPS holds Researcher­s-TRC meeting

MUSCAT: The meeting discusses the role of the Council in promoting research and supporting postgradua­te students.

The Research Committee of the Centre for Preparator­y Studies (CPS) at SQU organised a meeting between researcher­s and officials from The Research Council (TRC) to discuss various issues related to the role of the Council in promoting research and supporting postgradua­te research students, both potential future students as well as those who are already on scholarshi­ps in Oman and abroad. The meeting was a great opportunit­y for the attendees to interact directly with officials from TRC and get their queries answered. More than 20 participan­ts including researcher­s from the Centre for Preparator­y Studies and outside attended the meeting with TRC officials.

There were three detailed presentati­ons as follows. Abdullah al Mahrooqi, Director of Communicat­ion at TRC, gave a presentati­on on the role of TRC in promoting and supporting research initiative in Oman and the provision of various programmes and funding in this regard. This was followed by a second presentati­on by Dr Abdulmonem al Kharousi, Director of Oman Research and Education Network (OMREN) on the role of OMREN in connecting various research bodies and individual­s in Oman to the outer world using hightech methods.

Finally, Osama al Lawati, business developer specialist at TRC, gave a talk on Innovation Part Muscat (IPM) which is part of the TRC. The floor was then opened for the attendees to interact directly with the three guests.
