Tawasul launches initiative for women entrepreneurs
Tawasul recently announced a national capacity building initiative focusing on Omani women entrepreneurs. The initiative, Mulhimat, aspires to enable 20 participants from 10 small and medium enterprises owned by Omani women to help them operate effectively. Mulhimat is supported by BP Oman as part of its Social Investment Programme.
To deliver the programme, Tawasul formed a strategic partnership with Riyada, the Public Authority for Small and Medium Enterprises Development. Riyada will provide support to Tawasul in the registration and selection processes.
“BP Oman’s SIP initiatives are delivered under three themes, enterprise development, education and sustainable energy. In line with our objectives, Mulhimat focuses on equipping the Omani women entrepreneurs with necessary professional skills to enhance their efficiency, competitiveness and growth opportunities,” stated, Shabib al Mamari, communication and external affairs manager, BP Oman.
Riyada executed the first stage of the programme that includes registration; which was open for women across Oman, and will commence filtration of the applications and selection.
Two Omani women from each organisation will be selected to engage in the five-month long capacity building programme that will unfold in four phases: (gap analysis, capacity building, mentorship and knowledge sharing). Upgrading their management as well as leadership skills will motivate these women to be better employees, enabling them to inspire and support other women.

Tawasul perceives female entrepreneurial contribution as advancement towards selfemployment and job creation. We believe that providing capacity building training to Omani women entrepreneurs will embed skills that will enable them to improve their business’ efficiency. This endeavour is surely possible as a consequence of our partnership with BP Oman,” said, Hazim Abdullah, CEO at Tawasul.
