Ithraa chairman attends World Economic Forum

DAVOS MEET: Ithraa chief meets WEF founder and discusses Oman’s role towards cementing peace in the region

DAVOS: Delegated by His Majesty Sultan Qaboos, Dr Salim bin Nasser al Ismaili, Chairman of the Public Authority for Investment Promotion and Export Developmen­t (Ithraa) is taking part in deliberati­ons of the annual meeting of the 47th World Economic Forum at Davos, Switzerlan­d.

As more as 3,000 political and economic personalit­ies from 100 countries are taking part in the forum.

On the sidelines of the event, the Ithraa Chairman met with Klaus Schwab, Founder of the World Economic Forum during which Dr Al Ismaili discussed with Schwab the role being carried out by the Sultanate in cementing peace in the region.

The Founder of the Forum valued the attention and support accorded by His Majesty the Sultan to the World Economic Forum.

The Ithraa Chairman also met with Joe Biden, US Vice President during which Dr Al Ismaili conveyed greetings of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos to President Barack Obama, USA President along with His Majesty’s wishes of continuous progress and prosperity to the friendly US people.

Dr Al Ismaili also met with John Kerry, US Secretary of State.

Kerry expressed his thanks and appreciati­on for the support and cooperatio­n he received from the Sultanate’s Government during his period of duty.

He hoped to promote the good bilateral relations between the two friendly countries.

The forum comes this year under the theme “Responsive Leadership”. It tackles through 400 sessions; a range of socio-economic topics covering means of promoting global cooperatio­n, issues related to constructi­ve solutions for internatio­nal economic challenges and response to the rapid progress in technology and industrial revolution.
