Omani Derby Cup and Mubarak Cup on Jan 20

MUSCAT: The Royal Horse Racing Club (RHRC) will organise at Al Rahba Racecourse in the Wilayat of Barka on January 20, Friday, the 11th race for the current season under the patronage of Mohsen bin Mohammed al Sheikh, Chairman of Muscat Municipali­ty.

The race will include the Omani Derby Cup and Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak Ladies World Championsh­ip (IFAHR) with participat­ion of jockeys from the Sultanate and various countries around the world.

Brigadier Abdul Razaq bin Abdul Qadir al Shahwarzi, Commander of the Royal Cavalry, Supervisor General of Horse Races said that the upcoming race is among the most prominent horse races being held in the Sultanate due to the participat­ion of strong pure Arabian horses.

He added that we at the RHRC are proud to host the first leg of Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak Ladies World Championsh­ip (IFAHR) in the Sultanate.

He explained that the race will witness two internatio­nal rounds for internatio­nal jockeys.

A draw was held for the Omani Derby Cup and Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak Ladies World Championsh­ip (IFAHR) in the presence of officials from the Royal Cavalry, horse owners and trainers.

The race will include eight rounds as six rounds are allocated for pure Arabian horses and two rounds for thoroughbr­ed horses.

The first and second rounds allocated for pure Arabian horses for 1200 metres each while the third round will be allocated for thoroughbr­ed horses for 1,600 metres.

The fourth round will be allocated for pure Arabian horses for 1,600 metres whereas the fifth round will be dedicated for Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak Ladies World Championsh­ip (IFAHR) for pure Arabian horses for 1,600 metres. — ONA
