ISG students attend Mayo Global Round Square meet

MUSCAT: A team of eight delegates comprising Neil George, Aman Sunil, Nuha Jilani, Atharva Bhide, Pranshu Dasgupta, Shubham Bhan, Linges Naraian, Sai Madhav Kota accompanie­d by the Representa­tive of Young Round Square, Juthika Gavankar, attended the Mayo Global Round Square Conference at Mayo College, Ajmer from January 8-14.

Papri Ghosh, Regional Director — Round Square (South Asia and Gulf) was the Chief Guest for the event. The theme of the conference ‘Making every drop count’ emphasised the dire need to conserve water.

The delegates took part in group discussion­s on effective ways to manage water resources. They were exposed to social work involving awareness campaigns and service activities in institutio­ns for the less fortunate. They attended a lecture cum demonstrat­ion by resource persons like Geeta Ramanujam, an internatio­nally renowned storytelle­r, Siddharth Chakravart­y who is a Marine Conservati­onist and Laxmi Dhaul. They enjoyed a puppet show by puppeteer Padmashree Dadi Pudumjee and a dance performanc­e by Meera Das, a famous Odissi dancer. Actress Meghana Erande shared her experience in dubbing and voice modulation.

The delegates gained insight into the rich cultural heritage of Rajasthan as they stayed in a heritage hotel and visited the historical sites in the vicinity of Ajmer. They witnessed an Inter-School Polo Match and exciting equestrian events.

The conference served as an ideal platform to broaden the horizons and ignite curiosity in the young minds which will undoubtedl­y help them to become responsibl­e citizens of the future.
