12 arrested in drug case

MUSCAT: The Directorate of Combating Drugs and Psychotropic Substances at Al Dakhiliyah Governorate Police Command arrested 12 people for abusing drugs in the wilayats of Bidbid and Samayil. Three of the arrested were found in possession of heroin.

The police took legal action against the defendants and referred them to the public prosecution to complete the investigation.

Royal Oman Police calls on citizens and residents to cooperate with the authorities to fight the drug phenomenon and to provide information that could help in identifying drug dealers and smugglers.

MAN HELD FOR CAR THEFT: The department of inquiries and criminal investigation at Barka Police Station arrested a person who allegedly stole a car and set it on fire in Al Numan district in the Wilayat of Barka.

An official with Royal Oman Police said that the owner of the car reported the incident to the police station informing them that his car had been stolen. The police managed to identify the culprit following an investigation. The defendant was referred to the public prosecution to completed the legal actions.

HELD IN PEOPLE SMUGGLING CASE: Police officers in Al Buraimi arrested an Omani citizen for attempting to bring two African women into the country illegally. According to information obtained by the police the man was involved in several cases of people smuggling. He was referred to the pubic prosecution to complete the legal action.
