SalamAir to boost Salalah tourism

SALALAH: It is expected that SalamAir after it launched its route between Muscat and Salalah with two flights a week will boost the tourism sector in the Sultanate by providing an effective means of transport at affordable prices, thereby contributi­ng to the achievemen­t of the aspiration­s of the Sultanate’s efforts to diversify the national economy and develop a number of sectors, including the tourism sector.

Salim bin Awadh bin Yahya al Yaf ’ei, Director-General of Salalah Airport, stressed that SalamAir would help boosting economic developmen­t and contributi­ng effectivel­y to create a competitiv­e environmen­t for the developmen­t and improvemen­t of the civil aviation sector services in the Sultanate.

He said that the officials of Oman Airports Management Company (OAMC) considered SalamAir as a new strategic partner and represents one of the new windows that will work to facilitate the travel experience from the economic aspects to and from the Governorat­e of Dhofar, therefore, internal traveling between Salalah, Muscat and other destinatio­ns to be covered by SalamAir will become easier and affordable.

He added that SalamAir is a national project that aims primarily at raising the contributi­on of economic returns for the Sultanate of non-oil sectors in the GDP by offering smart opportunit­ies to meet the needs of the community.
