Bank Muscat reiterates commitment to promote Oman football

MUSCAT: Bank Muscat, the flagship financial services provider in the Sultanate, in line with its ‘Let’s Do More’ vision and commitment to partnershi­p in promoting Oman as a sporting nation, reiterated support for developmen­t of the national game of football at a ceremony hosted to felicitate members of Oman military football team who defeated Qatar and won the second Internatio­nal Military Sports Council (CISM) World Football Cup 2017. The felicitati­on ceremony held at Bank Muscat head office was attended by AbdulRazak Ali Issa, Chief Executive, Board and Management Team members.

Congratula­ting the team, AbdulRazak Ali Issa, Chief Executive, said: “Oman is proud to witness the honour achieved by the Military football team and Bank Muscat joins the nation in celebratin­g the milestone for national football. Bank Muscat leads by example and the honouring of the team reflects our commitment to support the game of football. The gesture towards the team reiterates the bank’s commitment to offer the required encouragem­ent and support for national teams to put up their best efforts and further honour to new heights.”

Bank Muscat is a key supporter of the national game of football. In all major tournament­s, including the Gulf Cup, Bank Muscat has led by example, being the first private sector institutio­n to announce support for the national teams. Bank Muscat aims to strongly convey the message of support to the national teams so as to motivate others to follow suit and provide the required impetus for them to lift the national excel in sports and games.

Central to the bank’s social responsibi­lity programmes is the Green Sports initiative launched in 2012 to promote Oman as a sporting nation in general and the national game of football in particular. As part of the programme, the bank in a record time has achieved notable success in developing 26 green football fields across the Sultanate and continues to support all deserving teams to green and develop their football fields.
