The accuracy of global positioning System height measurements depend on several factors but most crucial one is the ‘imperfection’ of the earth’s surface.
At present Global Positioning System heights ellipsoidal heights. A height modernisation effort was thus required by developing a gravity network that enables all organisations within the Sultanate of Oman to determine accurate orthometric heights.
This project provides The National Survey Authority with the capability to establish a modern height system in Oman.
