Workshops on Public Relations and Media Management conclude at MEC

MUSCAT: Middle East College (MEC) and Modern Institute for Developmen­t (MID) organised a series of workshops on Public Relations and Media Management on February 5 and 6, 2017 under the auspices of HH Sayyida Dr Raya bint Qais al Said. The workshops were presented by Ola Al Fares, a Jordanian journalist working at MBC Group channels, at the MEC Student Hub auditorium, Knowledge Oasis Muscat (KOM). The topics covered were: Media and Communicat­ion Skills, Conversati­on Management Skills, Effective Body Language Usage and producing Media materials.

Ola Al Fares expressed her happiness on having visited Oman. To quote her, she said, “I consider myself as an Omani and a daughter of this beautiful country! It was a memorable experience that for sure I would like to repeat. I enjoyed every moment I spent here and visited many places of tourist interest such as Al Jabal Al Akhdar, Nizwa and Muttrah, to name a few. I would like to thank MEC, MID and all the organisers for their efforts in making this event a big success”.

Ahmed Al Hatmi, General -Manager of MID, said: “Media is for sure considered as an important sector nowadays that plays a major role in the world and that is why we decided to enter this field. We hope that through conducting such training programmes and workshops we will be able to contribute towards the developmen­t of the talents and skills of our youth, in this area”.

MEC provides for its students, a variety of activities, societies and clubs that help them to develop their skills in many different areas such as: media, photograph­y, sports and arts. In addition, as part of its Open Campus programme, MEC collaborat­es with several institutio­ns through different events hosted at the MEC campus.
