Inspection campaign for precious stone shops
MUSCAT: The Directorate General for Standards and Metrology at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry will launch early next March the 2nd awareness and inspection campaign on precious stone shops. Building on the success made at the first campaign organized last year, the second campaign will conduct a survey for the precious stone shops and establish a The main committee of the second graduates’ forum, ‘Glory in You’ for colleges under the Ministry of Higher Education held its first meeting at the Faculty of Applied Sciences in Nizwa recently.
The meeting was headed by Dr Said bin Khalaf al Nabhani, dean of the college and chairman of the committee. It was attended by the committee members.
It discussed preparations for organising the event, which will be hosted by Nizwa College of Applied Sciences.
They identified the subcommittees that will prepare database for manufacturing various kinds of stones. The campaign also includes meeting with managers and staff at such shops to highlight to them the importance of abiding by the provisions of the Royal Decree No 109/2000. The participants at the campaign will distribute publications and handouts that include valuable information. The campaign aims at spreading message of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and its role in enhancing awareness of Omanis and expatriates of the best possible ways to combat fraud in precious stones. It also aims at highlighting the law on selling precious stones in the Sultanate. — ONA and organise the event. They are: finance and services committee, public relations and media committee, design and publications committee and the committee to communicate with graduates.
They discussed the target groups that will participate in the forum, besides identifying requirements for establishing the forum.
The graduates’ forum helps in linking the graduates with the college. It also helps strengthen the relationship between graduates themselves.
In addition, it makes them stay in touch and help build an updated database for graduates.
