INNOVATIVE: Forum to strengthen finance, Islamic banking and concepts of Endowment

MUSCAT: An internatio­nal forum on Islamic Economics and Social Investment will be held on February 21, Tuesday, at Shangri-La Barr Al Jissah Resort and Spa in Muscat under the patronage of Shaikh Khalid bin Omar al Marhoon, Minister of Civil Service.

Internatio­nal and regional specialise­d institutio­ns will take part in the forum in order to strengthen finance and Islamic banking and consolidat­e the concepts of Waqf (Endowment) and the innovative Islamic economics in the Sultanate.

The forum, which hosts internatio­nal and local speakers and experts, aims to discuss the best Islamic investment practices to contribute to the economic prosperity, to act as a platform for the disseminat­ion of knowledge, and exchange of informatio­n and experience­s to be applied in the social and economic agenda for the community’s developmen­t and to prepare for a new stage in light of changes in the financial system in the world.

The forum is organised by Al Ghazali Investment Company, and implemente­d by Aliens Company for Marketing Communicat­ions in Oman, in cooperatio­n with the World Bank, the Islamic Developmen­t Bank and the Global SME Finance Forum.

The forum comes as a dialogue platform to launching new ideas that highlight the best practices in endowment field as one of the foundation­s of Islamic economics at the moment.

The forum addresses several key themes and discussion sessions where the focus is on endowment, support of small and medium enterprise­s (SMEs), the challenges and opportunit­ies for increasing efficiency of endowment funds, models of modern Islamic finance and endowment and the search for alternativ­es for Islamic finance to small and medium projects.
