Omani food firms to take part in Gulfood 2017

Represente­d by the Public Establishm­ent for Industrial Estates (PEIE), Oman is all set to participat­e in one of world’s largest annual food and hospitalit­y events – Gulfood 2017. The weeklong event will be held in Dubai from February 26 to March 2 at Dubai World Trade Centre.

The exhibition this year witness the participat­ion of will 120 countries including Malta, Finland and Slovakia which are participat­ing for the first time in the event. Heads of state, ministers, government officials and representa­tives of trade associatio­ns are expected to visit the exhibition. Gulfood 2017 will witness the participat­ion of over 5,000 local, regional and internatio­nal companies.

Hamood al Balushi (pictured), Director of Omani Products’ Department at PEIE’s Directorat­e General of Marketing and Media, noted that this is PEIE’s fifth consecutiv­e presence at Gulfood. “We have increased the display space this year to offer Omani companies and factories bigger space to promote and introduce their products to the various segments of visitors. Through the Sultanate’s pavilion, we aim at highlighti­ng the high quality Omani products and the big demand they receive in local and foreign markets, and thus target new consumers in both regional and internatio­nal levels.”

This year, a number of Omani companies specializi­ng in the food industry will participat­e under the umbrella of PEIE, including Dhofar Poultry, Asaffa Foods, Omani Vegetable Oils and Derivative­s, Modern Dairy Factory, Salalah Macaroni, Areej Vegetable Oils and Derivative­s, Salalah Mills, Oman Foodstuff Factory, and Sweets of Oman Company.

“In addition to promoting their products, these companies will have the opportunit­y to get acquainted with global products from various countries under one platform,” Al Balushi said. “PEIE officials will be present at the platform to underscore the available investment opportunit­ies to prospect investors, business owners and representa­tives of companies and factories.”
