AAP legislator cries foul after brother arrested

NEW DELHI: AAP legislator Rajesh Rishi’s brother was arrested on Monday for allegedly assaulting and molesting an elderly woman over a parking dispute, police said.

Rajeev Rishi was accused of assaulting the victim’s husband Virender Singh and molesting her in the incident that happened on Sunday night at Dabri in west Delhi.

Police said Rajeev Rishi and his friend Satish Yadav were arrested on charges of attacking the couple over parking issues.

“Rajeev Rishi and Satish and some AAP workers got into a fight with their neighbours after the couple opposed the parking of cars in Dabri as it created a nuisance for residents,” Deputy Commissioner of Police Surender Kumar said.

Rajesh Rishi, the legislator from Janakpuri, denied the charges against his brother and said the police were acting under pressure from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

The Delhi Police have so far arrested at least 16 Aam Aadmi Party MLAs on various charges. — IANS
