Al Rawahi shines at ISC tennis final

MUSCAT: Oman’s top ranked junior player, Younis bin Tufail Al-Rawahi justified his top ranking when he emerged winner to clinch the top prize at the ISC-Muscat Pharmacy Open Junior Tennis Tournament organized by the Indian Social Club.

Khalid bin Ali Al-Aadi, Chairman of Oman Tennis Associatio­n (OTA) presided over the grand finals of the largest junior tennis tournament in the country.

Also present at the finals were CM Sardar, Vice Chairman of the Indian Social Club Oman, OTA General Secretary Mundher Al-Barwani, OTA Treasurer Siddiq Al-Hashmi and OTA Executive Manager Salman Al-Balushi together with a large gathering of tennis enthusiast­s.

In the all-Omani boys under-18 singles final, the top seed Younis Al-Rawahi faced stiff resistance before overcoming No. 3 seed Zakariya AlSuleiman­i 7-5, 6-2.

Younis earned the first break of the match when he broke Zakariya in the fifth game and held for a 4-2 lead.
