Muscat National Development and Investment Company (ASAAS) will organise the Oman Tourism Investment Conference (OTIC) to bring stakeholders and potential investors in tourism sector. The event will be held at the Oman Convention & Exhibition Centre on March 21 and 22.

ASAAS said it plans to support the Omani economy by establishing commercially-viable projects. During the first 10 years of its inception, the company will develop a diversified portfolio of selected projects around RO1billion, which is helped to consolidate the diversification strategy.

Speaking to the Observer, Khalid al Yahmadi, CEO, ASAAS, said the conference will present investment opportunities in Oman before around 500 participants who will be attending the event. He said more details about some of the landmark projects will be unveiled at OTIC.

Last year, ASAAS announced a 1.5 million sqm entertainment and leisure destination to be built in Barka, which will offer both lifestyle and educational aspects for children and adults.

The company had also announced building a four-star hotel to be managed by Hilton Worldwide and have name Hilton Garden Inn. The hotel will sprawl over 16,000 sqm in Al Khuwair region.

Around 400 delegates, including 100 investors are expected to attend the two- day conference. OTIC will provide an overview of the tourism strategy of the country and analyse the current position of the Sultanate in the global tourism market.

OTIC will feature speakers from Oman and abroad who have established their presence in the field of areas of tourism development at national and international levels. The speakers from Oman include senior officials from the government and policy makers. Ministry of Tourism, Oman, is an official partner of OTIC.

OTIC will offer a unique opportunity to grow business network. Participants can have meetings with tourism professionals, executives from governmental and non-governmental organisations, domestic and foreign operators, travel agencies, tourism organisations, high-level executives of hotel and resorts.

The conference is organised by Muscat National Development and Investment Company (ASAAS), which has been established by a number of government institutions in September 2014 with a capital of RO100 million with a mandate to be one of the key development and investment vehicles in the country.
