State Council to discuss draft cultural heritage law, economic proposals

MUSCAT: The State Council will hold today its 5th session of the second annual sitting of the sixth term and will discuss the Draft Cultural Heritage Law which was referred from the Council of Ministers.

It will also discuss the Report of the Culture, Media and Tourism Committee on the draft law, as well as the report of Majlis Ash’shura on it.

During the 7th session, to be held tomorrow, the State Council will discuss the proposal of the education and research committee on the study titled ‘Revising the Duplicatio­n of Programmes and Majors at Higher Education Institutio­ns’. It will also discuss the proposal by the economic committee to amend the economic developmen­t law issued by the Royal Decree No 9/75.

It will also review the report on the State Council’s participat­ion in the second conference for the Arab Parliament and for speakers of the Arab parliament­s and councils.

It will also review the programme for enhancing cooperatio­n between the State Council and SQU, as well as the Secretaria­t-General report on the activities of the State Council during the period between its 4th, 5th and 6th sessions.

It should be noted that the fifth and sixth sessions will be held under the chair of Dr Yahya bin Mahfoudh al Mantheri, Chairman of the State Council at the meetings hall in the premises of the State Council in Al Bustan. — ONA
