Bank Nizwa Quran recitation contest ends

-

MUSCAT: Receiving more than 300 entries from across the Sultanate, Bank Nizwa recently celebrated the conclusion of its ‘Bank Nizwa Quran Recitation Competition’. Organised by the bank on its Instagram account, the unique contest invited children under 13 years of age to record themselves reciting Quran for a chance to win a prize. The winners of the competition were each honoured with visits from Bank Nizwa’s branch managers to the winner’s schools including Wilayat Manah, Wilayat Dhank, Wilayat Al Mudhaibi and Birkat al Mouz village, who presented them with their prizes.

Entries were evaluated by a judging panel appointed by the bank based on their recitation, pronunciation (tajweed), and articulation. The top 28 reciters were selected for the second round where they were tasked with reciting two specific verses of Quran chosen by the judging panel. Mohammed bin Hassan Fawaz won first place, while Al Moathar bin Ali al Busaidi came in second. In third place was Fatima bint Saif al Zakwani with Razeena bint Yaqoob al Harthy coming in fourth. THE Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) announced that the 2017 Cadillac XT5 crossover has earned a rating of 2016 Top Safety Pick+ (TSP+) when equipped with optional front crash prevention. A rating of TSP+ is the highest rating a vehicle can earn from the IIHS.

To qualify for a TSP+ rating, a vehicle must earn good ratings in the five crashworthiness tests — small overlap front, moderate overlap front, side, roof strength and head restraints — and an advanced or superior rating for front crash prevention. “Passenger safety was one of our top priorities when we engineered the XT5,” said Paul Spadafora, XT5 chief engineer. “We equipped the XT5 with Cadillac’s full set of driver awareness and driver assistance systems to aid collision avoidance. Just as importantly, we designed an advanced structure that is both stiffer and lighter, for excellent crashworthiness. This included a revised front structure that specifically targets the challenging offset barrier scenario.”

The 2017 XT5 is standard with seven airbags. OnStar’s suite of emergency services, including Automatic Crash Response, is available. The XT5 also offers numerous advanced safety systems included in the Driver Awareness and Driver Assist Packages.
