NCSI at Gulf Statistical Forum in Riyadh
MUSCAT: The National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) will participate in the first Gulf Statistical Forum to be held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on March 20-22.
The forum will discuss the demand for statistical data and information as well as use of statistics for policy making.
The forum, held under the theme of “Strengthening Statistical Partnerships to Support Economic Policies and Sustainable Development in the GCC”, reviews the application of statistical data and information from an international perspective, addressing the goals of sustainable development for 2030, emerging issues in the area of data in the post-crisis world and policy developments.
Economic and Financial Safety will also be a topic at the forum.
It will also discuss the demand for statistical data and information from a regional and national perspective, by addressing national reforms and policies to achieve more diversified economic development and enhance competitiveness and research in national development plans and sustainable development goals in the Arab world, as well as developments in the GCC common market.
The forum will also discuss the efforts of statistical agencies in the GCC countries towards meeting the growing demand for high quality statistical data and information.
The National Centre for Statistics and Information will present the Sultanate’s experience in transforming data to information and knowledge.
Panel discussions on measuring progress towards achieving sustainable development goals, enhancing statistical knowledge, statistical information and publicprivate partnerships in statistics have also been arranged as part of the forum.
The National Centre for Statistics and Information will present its experience in generating data with respect to the survey on prices in partnership with the private sector, in a working paper on “the technical developments in the system of price survey: benefits and challenges”.
