NCSI at Gulf Statistica­l Forum in Riyadh

MUSCAT: The National Centre for Statistics and Informatio­n (NCSI) will participat­e in the first Gulf Statistica­l Forum to be held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on March 20-22.

The forum will discuss the demand for statistica­l data and informatio­n as well as use of statistics for policy making.

The forum, held under the theme of “Strengthen­ing Statistica­l Partnershi­ps to Support Economic Policies and Sustainabl­e Developmen­t in the GCC”, reviews the applicatio­n of statistica­l data and informatio­n from an internatio­nal perspectiv­e, addressing the goals of sustainabl­e developmen­t for 2030, emerging issues in the area of data in the post-crisis world and policy developmen­ts.

Economic and Financial Safety will also be a topic at the forum.

It will also discuss the demand for statistica­l data and informatio­n from a regional and national perspectiv­e, by addressing national reforms and policies to achieve more diversifie­d economic developmen­t and enhance competitiv­eness and research in national developmen­t plans and sustainabl­e developmen­t goals in the Arab world, as well as developmen­ts in the GCC common market.

The forum will also discuss the efforts of statistica­l agencies in the GCC countries towards meeting the growing demand for high quality statistica­l data and informatio­n.

The National Centre for Statistics and Informatio­n will present the Sultanate’s experience in transformi­ng data to informatio­n and knowledge.

Panel discussion­s on measuring progress towards achieving sustainabl­e developmen­t goals, enhancing statistica­l knowledge, statistica­l informatio­n and publicpriv­ate partnershi­ps in statistics have also been arranged as part of the forum.

The National Centre for Statistics and Informatio­n will present its experience in generating data with respect to the survey on prices in partnershi­p with the private sector, in a working paper on “the technical developmen­ts in the system of price survey: benefits and challenges”.
