USIM delegation from Malaysia visits SQU

MUSCAT: Dr Ali bin Saud al Bimani, the Vice-Chancellor of Sultan Qaboos University, received at his office on Sunday, a delegation from the Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) consisting of Prof Dato’ Dr Zulkiple Abd Ghani, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and Internatio­nal) and Dr Zainur Rijal Abd Razak, Deputy Dean, Centre for Postgradua­te Studies.

The two sides discussed boosting academic and research cooperatio­n between the two universiti­es through exchange of students and faculty and undertakin­g collaborat­ive research projects.

USIM is an emerging Islamic university, which is fully owned and funded by the Malaysian government. It aims to spearhead knowledge and be the global reference centre for Islamic Science.

USIM embraces a holistic approach that integrates religious sciences with the social and physical sciences in all its programmes.

The programmes seeks to achieve a comprehens­ive understand­ing of current global problems and offers a fresh alternativ­e in solving them.
