State Council member gets award at Arab Parliament Conference

MUSCAT: Abdulqadir Salim Abdullah al Dhahab, State Council member, received the Gold Award for Excellence at 24th Arab Parliament­ary Union conference , which was concluded in Rabat on Tuesday.

The Omani delegation from the State Council and Majlis Ash’shura was headed by Mohamed bin Abu baker al Ghassani, Vice-Chairman of Majlis Ash’shura. He said that institutio­ns should play their role properly to realise the aspiration­s of the nation and their peoples by adopting new mechanisms of action and policies. Al Ghassani stressed on dialogue and tolerance to resolve conflicts .

The Vice-Chairman of the Shura Council pointed out that the Sultanate adopts this principle as one of the pillars of its foreign policy and that it strives to promote the march of joint Arab action through its support to achieve its objectives to activate its decision in all fields.

The conference was opened by Al Habib al Maliki, Chairman of the Moroccan House of Representa­tives and Abdel Hakim Bin Shammas, Chairman of the Council of Counselors of the Kingdom of Morocco.

Abdulqadir Salim Abdullah Dhahab expressed his happiness being chosen as a recipient of Al for the award, which he said validates that the Sultanate has a rich and deep experience in the parliament­ary field.

It is worth mentioning that the final communiqué was issued at the end of the conference, which included a number of topics, including emphasizin­g the support of the Palestinia­n cause in all internatio­nal forums, refusing to interfere in the internal affairs of the Arab countries, agreeing to support the candidates of the Arab Group in the Inter-Parliament­ary Union

Shaikh Saud bin Abdullah al Makhmari, Khalid bin Ahmed al Saadi and Shaham bin Rashid al Shahoomi were also part of the delegation.
