Oneness makes Oman distinct, lauds scholar and life coach
It is the oneness, the friendliness and most importantly the hospitality that make Oman and the people of the sultanate distinct, hails an international scholar, life coach, author and motivational speaker who was in the country on a brief visit.
“I have been to different places of Oman and experienced the warmth and hospitality of the people. Truly moved by their openness and welcoming manners”, Mirza Yawar Baig (pictured), international speaker, author, coach and facilitator specialising in leadership in family businesses covering Oman, South Africa, India, Sri Lanka besides the other GCC countries, Europe and America told Observer.
“Oman’s adherence to their culture is very much shown in these buildings around us. If you look at them, they are not just glass and steel but they have a soul jut as the people who hold their culture and tradition close to their hearts”, said Baig, who has nearly two decades of managerial experience of mining, plantation, manufacturing and service industries and 31 years in organisation training.
He added that the strong, historic relations between the Sultanate and India are centuries old and that there is a place called Salalah in his hometown Hyderabad that stands as a testimony of the strong bonds between the two nations. “Both peoples share strong bonds in terms of culture, tradition and attachment to family bonds. Oman and Hadhramaut in Yemen are close to Hyderabad”, he said adding that the openness and hospitality can be felt especially at the masjids, and other public places.
In 2010 he was invited by Ministry of Awqaf of Saudi Arabia and Kuwait development and to deliver a series of lectures besides conducting several series of such lectures in Oman in response to the invites from the Royal Court Affairs to conduct a series of lectures in the country.
“Omanis are soft dressed, courteous and well behaved and their openness is helping them a lot in acquiring the desired skill sets and knowledge. One must have experienced the language proficiency of the local populace is very sound”, said Baig, who is also a consultant faculty for many institutes across the world including the Foreign Service Institute, Washington DC, AMA International, New York, and GE Corporate University.
He has also authored several books including It’s my Life, Hiring Winners, Understanding Islam, Leadership Lessons from the Life of Rasoolullahand The Business of Family Businessbesides teaching and conducting classes on raising children, teaching teachers, guiding parents, curriculum advisory, teaching methodologies, and conducts classes for religious scholars and imams in many countries on how to deal with people.
