MUSCAT: The Organising Committee of the Omani Products Exhibition (OPEX) on Sunday held a coordination meeting with several Omani companies to discuss about the OPEX this year, which will be held in Algeria from October 9-13 in order to support and promote Omani products outside the Sultanate.

The exhibition’s organiser showed a presentation during which it reviewed the previous stations visited by the Omani products exhibition since its inception in 2012 until last year.

The show explained that there is a continuous increase in the number of companies, visitors and deals struck by the Omani companies in each exhibition.

The presentation also reviewed the importance of the Algerian economic market and its proximity to the markets of African countries and the major opportunities available for Omani companies due to their participation in the exhibition.

The presentation pointed out that the volume of Omani exports to Algeria has increased from RO 8.6 million in 2014 to RO 10.6 million in 2015.

Oman Global Logistics Group showed a presentation during which it reviewed the major advantages and facilities that the Group will provide to Omani exporters wishing to export their products to the Algerian market and international markets.

Fahmi bin Said al Hinai, Director of the Poly Products Company, and Deputy Head of the OPEX Organising Committee affirmed that the Algerian market is one of the most promising markets.

Algeria has a population of about 40 million and it is the gateway to markets in Africa and Europe with a population of more than 300 million.

Thus, there are great opportunities for Omani products to open their outlets in these markets.
