Govt Services Manual discussed

MUSCAT: A meeting was held at the Institute of Public Administra­tion about the government services manual and the code of conduct for the services rendered to customers of all public organisati­on.

The meeting aimed at highlighti­ng a number of issues related to developing public performanc­e, government services manual, the code of conduct for serving customers and the necessary procedures and mechanisms for implementa­tion.

Shaikh Khalid bin Omar bin Said al Marhoon, Minister of Civil Service, affirmed that developing the public performanc­e and facilitati­ng procedures are among the top priorities of the government. He added that the government’s efforts in this area include developing a government services manual and the code of conduct for customers’ service.

He stressed the need of all public organisati­ons to expedite taking necessary measures to include the manual of their services at their websites and make it available for all customers of their services. On her part, Kawthar bint Ahmed al Yahmadiyah, Director of Performanc­e Assessment at the Ministry of Civil Service made a presentati­on on the manual of public services, the quality criteria and assessment mechanism.

The meeting was attended by Sayyid Salim bin Musallam al Busaidy, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Civil Service for Administra­tive Developmen­t Affairs, Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohammed al Nadabi, UnderSecre­tary of the Ministry of Civil Service for Civil Service Affairs, Dr Hamad bin Hamed al Ghafri, Adviser of the Ministry of Civil Service, a number of directors general of administra­tive and financial affairs and heads of e-government transforma­tion teams at the different ministries and public organisati­ons.
