Sohar Aluminium holds run and walk event

SOHAR: As a part of its efforts towards creating opportunities for its employees and promoting active and healthy lifestyle through physical exercise, Sohar Aluminium recently held its annual Fun Run and Walk.

The event, which was organised by the Communications Department, saw around 600 employees and contractors along with members of their families and a group of students and staff from Al Batinah International School (ABIS) taking part in its activities. Participants took this opportunity to get together with colleagues, friends and family members, in a competitive and enjoyable atmosphere and spend quality time together outside working hours. The participants were divided into two age categories; adults and children and competed in the running and walking races. The races ranged between 4 and 8 kilometres long. At the end of the event, a medal awarding ceremony was held to honour the winners. Engineer Said Al Masoudi, Sohar Aluminium’s CEO gave a speech at the ceremony in which he thanked the employees and their families for their participation, and urged them to maintain a healthy lifestyle and utilise their free time to practice sports and be physically active. The company also recently launched the ‘Sohar Aluminium Walking Club’ as a part of its healthy lifestyle campaign, organised by the company’s medical team.
