Boost to ties with Kenya

MUSCAT: State Council Chairman Dr Yahya bin Mahfoudh al Mantheri received Issa Abdullah al Tamami, Governor of Lamu, Kenya, and his accompanyi­ng delegation at the Council premises.

The Chairman warmly welcomed the visitors, wished them a pleasant stay, and hoped the visit would accomplish the desired objectives.

He praised the good relations that link the Sultanate and Kenya, particular­ly political, cultural and economic.

He further said, “Oman has close historical and cultural linkages with Kenya. Such mutual visits contribute substantia­lly to strengthen these relationsh­ips and expand the avenues of cooperatio­n and benefit the common interests of people of these two friendly countries.”

Dr Al Mantheri highlighte­d the role of the Council of Oman in the consolidat­ion of state institutio­ns in the Sultanate by carrying out its functions and its vested legislativ­e and oversight powers.

On his part, Issa extended his appreciati­on for the warm welcome. He hoped the cooperatio­n would reach newer heights and enable boosting of ties.

He noted the depth of relations between the two friendly countries, and reaffirmed their keenness to advance it and stated that many commonalit­ies exist between the two friendly nations.

He commended the highly dynamic role of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos in establishi­ng peace and stability in the region and admired the progress achieved by the Sultanate, which is evident from the visible and tangible developmen­t in all areas.

Dr Al Shaikh al Khattab Ghalib Ali al Hinai, Vice Chairman of the Council, few of the honourable members and Dr Hamad bin Mohammed al Dhoyani, Chairman of the National Records and Archives Authority (NRAA), also attended the meeting.
