Muscat University partnership gets a boost
MUSCAT University, the newest university in the Sultanate; which has partnerships with two leading UK universities, Cranfied University for its six masters programmes and Aston University for its three bachelors programmes, has received a boost to its efforts to develop real and effective international partner relations. On April 11, Aston University celebrated the graduation of 500 of its postgraduate students as well as recognizing the contributions of leading figures across the world by awarding honorary doctorates to four key individuals. Of those being awarded an honorary doctorate was Dr Abdulla al Harrasi, Chairman of Public Authority for Radio and TV here in Oman. Dr Al Harrasi is an alumnus of Aston University having gained his PhD from there in 2011.
Dr Al Harrasi was the guest of honour at the launch event for the Muscat University Partnerships in June 2016. After Tuesday’s graduat ion ceremony, Dr Al Harrasi commented that, “I am pleased to receive the Honorary Doctorate but I am even more delighted to see that Aston University is partnering with Muscat University here in Oman. This will extend the quality educational provision that I personally benefited from and offer students a choice to get a UK degree whilst here in the Sultanate. Strong, long lasting relationships spanning multiple levels of co-operation will help improve our higher education system and develop avenues for sharing best practice”.
