Oman hotel wins regional project quality award

- BUSINESS REPORTER MUSCAT, MAY 7

Musstir’s Al Baleed Resort Project has been chosen as one of the highest quality projects in the GCC at the recently concluded 2017 MEED Quality Awards for Projects, the region’s premier recognition programme for completed schemes in the Gulf region.

The project won the GCC Hotel Project of the Year award and was cited for its impressive design that took account of the existing archaeological environment and climatic conditions of the Al Baleed Heritage Site. The best of local building and cultural traditions were integrated into the development of the Al Baleed Resort while enhancing the quality of the facilities as well as its luxury amenities that makes it a model for future hospitality developments in the region.

It was one of 21 projects throughout the GCC that were recognised at this year’s edition of the MEED Quality Awards for Projects held at the The Westin Dubai Mina Seyahi Beach Resort & Marina in United Arab Emirates. The most coveted award of the programme, the MEED Quality Project of the Year, was given to Saudi Arabia’s Sadara Project, a joint venture of Saudi Aramco and the Dow Chemical Company, which also scooped the GCC Oil and Gas Project of the Year award.

“We salute these projects for their successful completion according to strict international quality standards, proving that these schemes are comparable to the world’s best in terms of engineering and construction excellence. Equally important, these projects were recognised as the best in the region for having proven their worth in making signification contributions to the wider socioeconomic, environmental and cultural development of the region,” says Richard Thompson, Editorial Director, MEED.
