Maharat trains local workforce for national vision
Maharat, an Omani-funded training business that train the Omani workforce in all sectors but with special focus on oil and gas sector is aiming at contributing qualified local workforce to the national vision of 50,000 jobs by 2020.
Maharat, which means ‘skills’ in Arabic has so far trained hundreds of young Omanis for the sectors with a tremendous track record.
At an event that marked its 2nd anniversary attended by Engineer Salim al Aufi, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Oil and Gas at the Knowledge Oasis Muscat, Warith al Kharusi, Chairman of the Board of Directors said that the Pension Fundsupported trainings are in alignment with continuous practical training with employment that fits in squarely with Oman’s broad vision.
“We are proud that we are continuously skilling the workforce with excellence and will also strive to directly contribute towards the 50,000 job creation objective by 2020. This means that we are 100 per cent geared to In Country Value (ICV) with Omanisation at the heart of their agenda”, Warith al Kharusi, Chairman of the board at Maharat.
The event included a walkthrough with presentations by the team in different fields. This was well attended by current clients, training associates, collaborating partners and accrediting bodies sharing the celebration to reinforce Oman’s Vision of having a “Globally Competitive Workforce”.
“Training and development in Oman should highlight the importance of in country values, and the need to create and invest in professional career paths and attitudes for sustainability.”
Maharat designs, develops and delivers tailor-made and measurable solutions to the oil and gas and other sectors and their business model is centred on training local workforce and fresh graduates with skills that will produce tangible results within the context of their jobs in any working environment.
