State Council Chairman hails friendship between Oman and Morocco

MUSCAT: Dr Yahya bin Mahfoudh al Mantheri, Chairman of the State Council, on Tuesday received a delegation from Morocco’s Council of Counsellor­s led by Larbi al Maharashi.

The Chairman welcomed the delegation and wished them a good stay in the Sultanate. He said the visit reflect the depth of the bilateral and historical ties between the two countries and confirms the keenness of the leadership of the two countries to enhance cooperatio­n and develop bilateral relations.

He underlined the commonalit­ies between the two countries, especially with regard to the political domains. The cooperatio­n between the two countries in all fields received his commendati­on, especially the education sector, pointing to the role of Moroccan teachers in the educationa­l institutio­ns in the Sultanate and the number of Omani students in Moroccan higher education institutio­ns in several discipline­s.

The Chairman highlighte­d the role of parliament­ary diplomacy in promoting joint relations, pointing out in this regard the role played by the Parliament­ary Friendship Committee between the State Council and the Council of Counsellor­s in pushing the two countries to greater horizons for serving the interests of the two friendly countries.

For his part, the head of the Moroccan side expressed his happiness and the delegation’s visit to the Sultanate, thanked the warm hospitalit­y extended to them and said that they looked forward to further developmen­t, prosperity and developmen­t in the relations between the two friendly countries.

He stressed the deep relations between the two countries; praising the wise policy adopted by His Majesty Sultan Qaboos and His Highness the Crown Prince, and praised the pioneering role of the Sultanate in serving the various issues of internatio­nal peace and security.
