Distributo­rs urged to ensure supplies during Ramadhan

MUSCAT: The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) has coordinate­d with major suppliers and distributo­rs of foodstuffs in the Sultanate to discuss needs of the local market for foodstuffs and to provide all necessary commoditie­s of these materials during the holy month of Ramadhan.

The ministry also conducted a research and maintained coordinati­on with factories producing milk, dairy products and meat shops of all types to estimate the actual market need of such products and provide them in line with the consumptio­n of the market.

Meanwhile, the number of industrial licences, customs and tax exemptions provided during the fourth quarter of 2016 reached 471 compared to the third quarter of the same year, which amounted to 381 licences, customs and tax exemptions.

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) pointed out that the industrial licences provided during the fourth quarter of 2016 amounted to 412 compared to 322 licences during the third quarter of the same year, due to the use of “Invest Easy” portal for submitting applicatio­n as the portal provides facilities for investors and businessme­n. The ministry said that the number customs exemptions that were of provided during the fourth quarter of 2016 reached 53, compared to the third quarter of the same year, which stood at 55 customs exemption. The number of tax exemptions during the fourth quarter of 2016 stood at 6, compared to 4 tax exemptions during the third quarter of the same year.
