Ooredoo renews main sponsorship of Oman School League 2017-2018
MUSCAT: Oman Qatari Telecommunications Company (Ooredoo) renewed its main sponsorship of the Oman School league for the academic year 2017 / 2018 in cooperation with Al-Swayni Sport Services Company.
The announcement made by Amin Saad (Al Swayni) Bait-Saleem CEO of Al Swayni Sport Services at the Oman School League 2017-2018 sponsorship announcement press conference organised by the Al Swayni company on Monday May 29, 2017. The Ooredoo renewal comes after the great success of the first edition 20162017 of the league at organisation, promotion and media coverage levels, and in the context of enhancing its role in corporate social responsibility and contribution to the emerging football talents in Oman. Ooredoo will continue as the main sponsor of Oman School league, which is organised in partnership between the Ministry of Education represented by the Oman School Sports Association and Al Swayni Sport Services Company.
This sponsorship will strengthen Oman School League educational and Sports objectives that Oman School Sports Association seeks to establish through the formation of a sustainable foundation for school sports and promoting the role of youth sport in the development of Omani student nationalism, leadership skills and team spirit.
Ooredoo is committed to delivering its best Oman to communities through its corporate social responsibility programme and cooperation with various governmental bodies by the provision of community derived products, services and initiatives, such as their annual Goodwill Journey, youth packages, and the support of the Oman Charitable organisation as well as small and medium enterprises. The Oman School league will be another bridge for the company long standing support and development of youth talent in the Sultanate; especially young players aged 15-18. It is expected that the number of schools participating in the second edition will increase to about 250 schools and more than 5,250 students.
Ooredoo’s main sponsorship of the first edition played a valuable role in the emerging gains of Oman School League, primarily the establishment of the first school football league in the Sultanate of Oman, which was won by Omar bin Al-Khattab school the champion of Dakhiliyah Governorate claiming the title and grand prize of artificial grass pitch after defeating Ka’ab bin Barcheh School, champion of North Al Batinah Governorate by penalty shootout 4/3.
The league also produced a number of benefits that stressed the importance of its continuity and development to become a discovery platform for the most promising talents in football, thus becoming the main source of players’ for national teams. The first version also provided an educational competition environment for all participants highlighting and bringing lots of discovered talents to spotlights. The league also provided an opportunity for players and coaches and administrators to meet, exchange experience, build confidence and team spirit.
Ooredoo sponsorship of the league brought also support to workshops and training courses that contributed to the qualification and training of the refereeing staff of the league, as well as various social groups’ interaction and participation in the league’s accompanying activities. The highlights of this were HADAAF the “League Mascot” awareness and educational campaign in the commercial gatherings.
