SULTAN QABOOS MOSQUE OPENS IN SUWAIQ

SUWAIQ: Assigned by His Majesty Sultan Qaboos, Shaikh Saif bin Mohammed al Shabibi, Minister of Housing, inaugurate­d on Friday the Sultan Qaboos Mosque in the Wilayat of Suwaiq in the Governorat­e of North Al Batinah.

The mosque, built on a total area of 37,558 square metres, can accommodat­e about 2,600 worshipers. The mosque was built on a total area of 37,558 square metres.

The mosque building covers 5,750 square metres, while the rest includes landscapin­g, outdoor works and parking.

The mosque accommodat­es contains three classrooms for the memorisati­on of the Holy Quran, the entrance hall of the mosque, which can accommodat­e 300 worshipers, a large 32-metre-high 14.6-metre diameter dome and two 48-metre-high-each minarets.

The mosque includes a prayer hall for women with a capacity of 360 worshipers. It also includes the office of the mosque administra­tion. The main hall area and annexes are 5,750 square metres.

The mosque also includes roads and parking lots for about 590 cars, toilets and other services.

Sultan Qaboos Mosque is one of the most important landmarks in the wilayat and an important architectu­ral masterpiec­e added to its the series of Sultan Qaboos mosques which His Majesty the Sultan ordered to build in all the Sultanate’s governorat­es to enhance the religious and spiritual aspects of the citizens.

Together with the upgrading of their scientific and cultural level to form the integrated Omani personalit­y in all its aspects.
