SQU takes part in international education meet at Los Angeles
MUSCAT: Sultan Qaboos University participated in the 69th Conference of International Education (NAFSA) held in Los Angeles, USA from May 28 to June 2. The university’s representatives held meetings with representatives of universities from around the world and discussed possible cooperation in various fields, including research and student exchange.
SQU officials met with representatives of the University of Louvain in Belgium, and agreed to exchange students and provide training opportunities for SQU students during summer in cooperation with Belgian companies. In addition, they met with representatives of Coventry University and discussed the possibility of cooperation through student exchange.
Moreover, they met with the Director of the Office of International Relations and Academic Cooperation at the Marmara University and discussed ways to promote student exchange programme.
SQU was represented by Hamoud bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Head of Student and Academic Exchange Affairs, and Khalil Ibrahim al Hashami, International Cooperation Specialist.
SQU’s participation aims at introducing the university’s scientific and research programmes, exploring opportunities for cooperation with various international universities, and finding partners to support student training programs and student exchange programs.
As many as 9,000 participants from more than 100 countries around the world participated for NAFSA this year to meet and discuss possible aspects of cooperation and opportunities for education, training, student and academic exchange between educational institutions. The theme of this year’s conference was “expanding community and strengthening connections”.
The conference is aimed at providing educational opportunities from the global educational institutions for different fields in order to help students, academics and researchers to find educational, research and training opportunities and motivated them to be more creative and productive in these fields.
