SQU takes part in internatio­nal education meet at Los Angeles

MUSCAT: Sultan Qaboos University participat­ed in the 69th Conference of Internatio­nal Education (NAFSA) held in Los Angeles, USA from May 28 to June 2. The university’s representa­tives held meetings with representa­tives of universiti­es from around the world and discussed possible cooperatio­n in various fields, including research and student exchange.

SQU officials met with representa­tives of the University of Louvain in Belgium, and agreed to exchange students and provide training opportunit­ies for SQU students during summer in cooperatio­n with Belgian companies. In addition, they met with representa­tives of Coventry University and discussed the possibilit­y of cooperatio­n through student exchange.

Moreover, they met with the Director of the Office of Internatio­nal Relations and Academic Cooperatio­n at the Marmara University and discussed ways to promote student exchange programme.

SQU was represente­d by Hamoud bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Head of Student and Academic Exchange Affairs, and Khalil Ibrahim al Hashami, Internatio­nal Cooperatio­n Specialist.

SQU’s participat­ion aims at introducin­g the university’s scientific and research programmes, exploring opportunit­ies for cooperatio­n with various internatio­nal universiti­es, and finding partners to support student training programs and student exchange programs.

As many as 9,000 participan­ts from more than 100 countries around the world participat­ed for NAFSA this year to meet and discuss possible aspects of cooperatio­n and opportunit­ies for education, training, student and academic exchange between educationa­l institutio­ns. The theme of this year’s conference was “expanding community and strengthen­ing connection­s”.

The conference is aimed at providing educationa­l opportunit­ies from the global educationa­l institutio­ns for different fields in order to help students, academics and researcher­s to find educationa­l, research and training opportunit­ies and motivated them to be more creative and productive in these fields.
