Forum to discuss public transport on Monday

MUSCAT: Dr Ahmed bin Mohammed al Futaisi, Minister of Transport and Communicat­ions will inaugurate Tracks Forum at the Cultural Club on Monday.

Under-Secretarie­s, CEOs and officials at the Ministry of Transport and Communicat­ions and experts will take part in the session.

The theme of the session is “Public Transport: Culture, Civilizati­on, Sustainabi­lity and Economy”.

The forum’s first session will host officials and specialist­s at the Ministry of Transport and Communicat­ions including CEOs of public transport companies in the Sultanate including Ahmed bin Ali al Balushi, CEO of Mwasalat and Mahdi bin Mohammed al Abdawani, CEO of National Ferries Company (NFC).

The first session of the forum will be moderated by Ahmed bin Abdul Kareem al Hooti. MUSCAT: The number of active establishm­ents covered by the social insurance system rose to reach 16,815 at the end of May, according to Statistics issued by the Public Authority for Social Insurance (PASI). The number of insured workers in the private sector in Oman rose to 217,829. A majority of insured are in the age group from 26 to 30 years. The average salary of the insured is RO 666.

The number of severance cases, which include terminatio­n of service, resignatio­n, transfer to another employer and terminatio­n due to death or disability and terminatio­n of service for other reasons (inside the Sultanate) reached 23,254 cases up to the end of May 2017. — ONA
