- STAFF REPORTER MUSCAT, JULY 3

With yet another accomplishment going down in the books of Injaz Oman, the sixth edition of the company programme attested the augmenting diversity and overhaul of entrepreneurship in various sectors.

It hosted an exhibition for the student companies that demonstrated their promising talents, products and services.

About 71 companies from different colleges and universities across Oman contended to market and promote their innovations at the most awaited exhibitions held at Shangri-La’s Barr Al Jissah Resort and the Oman Avenues Mall.

Showcasing their burgeoning abilities and talents, the youth’s exhilarating accomplishments enthused a national audience with a delivery of original and dynamic inventions that charmed visitors from all segments of society and industry.

“By organising a yearly exhibition, Injaz Oman not only offers a platform for students to market their products and ideas but also encourages their ingenuity and enthusiasm, motivating them to be leading future entrepreneurs. We try to balance the business achievements of each team with their members’ individual personal development and it makes us proud to have succeeded in our endeavours. We have witnessed such creativity and caliber in our country’s youth through this exhibition. These young minds pose great ingeniousness, delivering innovate solutions that are not only feasible but easily applicable to the Omani market. I would like to thank all those who attended and supported this successful event, including Al Raffd Fund, BP Oman, Omantel, Duqm Refinery, Oxy, Boeing and OMIFCO,” said Khaula al Harthi, Executive Director of Injaz Oman.

Senior officials from the public and private sectors as well as those supporting innovation and entrepreneurship had visited the exhibitions.

“The projects have uncovered a remarkable development in transforming ideas into viable products and services. The efforts and innovation of the students deserve to be seen and supported,” commented HH Dr Adham bin Turki al Said. Chief Executive Officer of Mwasalat, Ahmed al Balushi, visited the students’ booths and expressed his admiration of what he witnessed. “Great efforts and appetite for achievement can be clearly seen in these student’s innovations. There are many products that serve the transportation industry and we are planning to work with the owners soon,” he noted.

Amongst the student exhibitors was a company that aimed to benefit from wasted resources and transform it into products of high value and quality.

The company’s first project is to convert waste produced by fishes into food for fish farms. Similarly converting natural resources into value, another company transformed recycled materials into environmental friendly filters for vehicles. These filters can absorb chemicals, protecting the environment from harmful emissions.

Hailing from the field of mobile applications, one company designed an app, which rendered integrated services to promote Omani tourism using virtual reality. This app displayed pictures and virtual clips of tourist locations in the Sultanate with descriptions and GPS coordinates.

Additionally, it provided a comprehensive guide of supplementary services and places near the tourist spot.
