The Omani Authority for Partnership for Development (OAPFD) has announced the launch of a new Global Summer Internship programme (GSI) as part of its Youth Skills Development Programme (YSDP).

The Global Summer Internship programme will provide an opportunity for Omani Students to be part of a worldclass company that works with the Authority. The initiative should expand their global network and employability skills, in addition to developing their perspectives and understanding and much more.

The first edition of the programme was organised in cooperation between the Omani Authority for Partnership for Development (OAPFD) and Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) to train 10 students from the College of Engineering and Economics and Political Science at the Turkish company FNSS, the Austrian company Steyr and the German-based company OXEA.

An orientation hosted by Munira al Kindy, GSI Supervisor, on Sunday featured seven students who will train at FNSS from July 17 to August 13, 2017. The orientation started with an introduction about the YSDP programme, which was established in coordination with Rolls-Royce and Airbus Helicopters to satisfy their obligations under OAPFD to implement projects and training programmes to develop youth skills.

The programme aims to develop human resources at primary school level, for college and university students and for public sector employees. In addition, the programme will implement training programmes for job seekers as well as other youth-related programmes. During the orientation, Munira provided guidance for the students to invest in the training opportunity to develop their capabilities and to increase their employability after graduation.
