Ministry of Higher Education gets EFQM’s recognitio­n

MUSCAT: The Ministry of Higher Education has received internatio­nal recognitio­n from European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM). The EFQM Model provides a framework allowing organisati­ons to evaluate their performanc­e. The model also helps to incorporat­e the needs of all stakeholde­rs and make sure they are aligned with the organisati­on’s objectives.

EFQM Model is used to get a complete view of the organisati­onal performanc­e and to understand the relations of causes and effects between what organisati­ons do and the results they get. The Model is used by about 30,000 organisati­ons across the world.

Dr Rawya bint Busaidiyah, Minister Saud al of Higher Education, expressed her happiness and pride to receive the internatio­nal recognitio­n . “We are extremely happy and I would like to thank Dr Abdullah al Sarmi for his initiative that has aimed at supervisin­g all projects implementi­ng the criteria of EFQM Excellence Model.”

The ministry has initially selected Directorat­e General for Planning and Developmen­t, Directorat­e General for Universiti­es and Higher Education Admission Center for implementi­ng the model. The excellence leaders have been picked up to supervise work teams. The ministry has given priority to six projects selected from theses directorat­es to implement the criteria of EFQM within 90 days.
