Tourism layouts in wilayats soon

MUSCAT: The Tourism Sector’s Steering Committee held a meeting to discuss the developmen­ts of the National Programme for Enhancing Economic Diversific­ation (Tanfeedh), review the performanc­e indicators and assess the progress made in implementi­ng the sector’s initiative­s.

The committee discussed a range of issues and approved allocating local land plots for cafés and restaurant­s in Al Athaibah, Al Sarooj in the Governorat­e of Muscat and Salalah.

It also discussed facilitati­ng the establishm­ent of integrated tourism complexes, hotels and tourist attraction­s, discussed the status of the comprehens­ive tourism layouts in several wilayats.

The Ministry of Tourism has floated tenders to develop comprehens­ive tourism layouts for Muscat, Al Dakhiliyah, Dhofar and South Al Sharqiyah governorat­es.

The ministry also awarded the tender developing an integrated tourism layout for Governorat­e of Musandam.

The committee also discussed the establishm­ent for the of one stop station as a centre for investor and customer service at the Ministry of Tourism through operating the customer service centre.

A model of the customer service centre has been presented to provide facilities for investors.

On the other hand, the meeting reviewed the initiative made to facilitate the follow up of issuing tourist visas for the new tourist exporting markets.

The team is developing a marketing plan for the sponsored visas, e-visas. The team is also following up with the relevant organisati­ons to introduce the e-visa.
