SALALAH: On the sideline of its participation at Salalah Tourism Festival 2017, the Information Technology Authority (ITA), represented by the Digital Society Development Division, conducted a number of training programmes and workshops in the use of information technology that aim to enhance the trainees skills and competencies in this field to help them benefit themselves and the organisations they work in and the society in general.
ITA also, in cooperation with the Omani Women’s Centers at Salalah and Mirbat, conducted another training course for four days entitled “Promoting the Use of Social Networking Programs in Marketing Products”.
The training targeted more than 80 trainees including housewives, businesswomen and craftswomen to help them in using the modern technologies and social networking programmes to market products, services and encouraging entrepreneurship and establishing new projects or developing existing ones to enable them to compete locally and internationally.
Additionally, in order to raise awareness on the efficient utilisation of software licenses among the government entities employees, ITA conducted a workshop for 3 days at Gardens-Salalah Hotel, with a participation of 15 employees from 6 government entities, focusing on the importance of obtaining up-to-+date software licenses and continuously updating them.
It also stressed on the significance of promoting the use of open source software and dealing with more than one service provider instead of relying on one provider in order to reduce cost. The workshop included practical training in upgrading the devices with the latest versions and how to use the databases as well.
