Women learn tips on dealing with kids

July 29: A workshop for women on the ‘Art of Containmen­t’ was conducted at Al Musannah College of Technology recently.

It focused on ways and preferred styles of embracing children with love and dealing with them properly to create a strong, healthy and confident personalit­y.

The workshop was held as part of the fourth social week for year 2017 by the Directorat­e-General for Social Developmen­t in the Governorat­es of Al Batinah South and North representa­tive in the Department of Social Developmen­t in the Wilayat of Musannah.

Held under the auspices of Rahma al Nofali, Member of the Municipal Council representi­ng Musannah, the workshop was conducted by programmes and community awareness specialist Naqaa al Lawati.

A total of 60 women from different government entities and voluntary teams from Musannah attended the workshop.

The workshop highlighte­d the common parenting styles of bringing up children: authoritar­ian, strict as well as flexible. The impact of these parenting styles were also discussed.

Participan­ts were told to spend more time with their children. “The art of containmen­t in dealing with children is 70 per cent based on building a positive relationsh­ip, 10 per cent on building positive confidence and 10 per cent on boosting positive behaviour besides 10 per cent on modifying positive behaviour,” she said. The workshop concluded with the handing of certificat­es to the participan­ts.
