Al Rowas conferred with Arab Heritage Man Award

Inter-Arab tourism developmen­t, media role in the sector discussed

MUSCAT: With the blessings of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos, Abdul Aziz bin Mohammed al Rowas, His Majesty the Sultan’s Advisor for Cultural Affairs, received in his office on Monday, Chair-man and members of the Arab Center for Tourism Media (ACTM) in the presence of a number of pioneers in the Omani and Arab media to honour him with the Arab Heritage Man Award for 2017.

Al Rowas accepted the award, expressing his thanks to the ACTM for its efforts in serving tourism communicat­ion and high-lighting the Arab heritage treasures in various Arab countries.

He expressed his thanks and appreciati­on to ACTM for selecting him to obtain the Arab Heritage Man Award for 2017, pointing out that this honour comes as a result of the wise leadership of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos and the unity of the Omani people since the blessed Renaissanc­e.

Dr Sultan al Yahyaee, Chairman of ACTM, said that the Center, which is about to mark its 10th anniversar­y, has organized dozens of activities and events that have achieved a prestigiou­s position in the Arab countries at various levels of official, institutio­nal and public in both media and tourism.

He added that the centre through its 15 branches in various Arab countries has raised awareness about the tourism potential of the Arab countries by portraying a positive image through various influentia­l media outlets.

The meeting discussed means of promoting tourism and the developmen­t of inter-Arab tourism between the different countries of the Arab world, as well as the importance of media role in the tourism sector. — ONA
